1. Overview

The current lack of control on natural resources on the one hand with the infringements of animal health requirements, the inability to implement continuous monitoring of plurality of individual farms necessitate increased the attention on prevention of infectious diseases.

An important safety factor is the country's control of agricultural, wildlife, fur-bearing animals and birds as well as the control to conduct preventive diagnostic measures. For this purpose an effective system of control and monitoring of infectious diseases through the use of computer information and analytical monitoring the state programs of environmental, agricultural, wild animals, birds and fur-bearing animals was installed.

Thus, to successfully solve this multifaceted problem there is a requirement for a reliable system of physical protection of biological objects, biological safety, prediction and monitoring of especially dangerous, exotic animal diseases in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Social danger of bacterial and viral infections require immediate action in a timely manner together with detailed monitoring and objective analysis of the epizootic situation in each specific case to take urgent decisions on the prevention of human infection. This is possible only with the full use of the whole complex of epidemiological monitoring data, the exact definition of a specific accessory of the pathogen of fundamental importance, since the nature of the course of infection in different cases depends primarily on the properties of microorganisms circulating in them. Therefore, all subsequent veterinary measures, should be based both on the results of epizootic monitoring, the comprehensive study isolating epizootic cultures of microorganisms as a rule.

Migratory wild animals and migratory birds are one of the possible carriers of particularly dangerous, exotic and slow infections. The territory of Kazakhstan is not protected by the introduction and spread of these types of infections. Various infectious diseases can cause danger to the economy of the territory, including several disease entities and related diseases of wild animals and migratory birds. Kazakhstani wildlife protection from a variety of infections can be achieved by using modern methods of laboratory diagnostics (ELISA, PCR), for the purpose of early detection of disease and elimination of consequences using complex actions.

Laboratory activities

The activity of infectious disease diagnostic laboratory (hereinafter DIS laboratory) includes:

Conducting reference laboratory research of biomaterial within veterinary facilities in various regions of Kazakhstan;

Conducting and monitoring laboratory studies of wildlife animals and birds biological material;

Analysis of the epizootic situation on infectious diseases at the facilities of the veterinary control of agriculture and wildlife;

Implementation of outdoor specialists institution for the selection of biological material in the field of veterinary control.

Implementation of regional and district veterinary experts.

There are 5 departments in the DIZ laboratory, Astana:

- Samples reception Department;

- Epizootic monitoring Department;

- Department of Serology;

- Department of Bacteriology;

- Department of Molecular Biology.

- 1. DIZ laboratory methods used are:

- Both modern and classical in the following areas:

- Bacteriological Methods: Microscopy, isolated cultures on nutrient media, highlighting cultures on laboratory animals, the study of biochemical characteristics and others.

- Serological methods: the classic serological methods as the SFT (complement fixation test), RBP (rozbengal test), DPR (diffuse precipitation reaction) IDAP (immuno-diffuse analysis precipitating), IFA (immuno-diffuse analysis fluorescentic), and others. Nowadays serological methods such as IFA (immunofluorescentic) detect antibodies or antigens, the FPA (fluorescence-polarization analysis) ICA (immuno-chromatographic analysis) and others.

- Molecular biology: PCR (polymerase chain reaction), real-time PCR with electrophoretic light of genotyping bacteria
